Scanner Pro solves the problem of how to fax from your iPhone

Need a way to fax from your iPhone or iPad?

I love this app called Scanner Pro from Readdle.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, you should seriously look at getting this app. The app allows you to take a series of photos and turn them into a single PDF to save to DropBox, iCloud, print or email. It also has the ability to square your photos, because images can become distorted when you photograph pieces of paper.

This $7 app replaces a fax machine, or at least a trip to your corner store to use their fax machine. In app purchases give you the ability to fax for $1.

Macworld magazine agrees with me. A recent article compared numerous similar apps and came to the conclusion that Scanner Pro was the best one.

Not wishing to sound too much like an infomercial, this is just a well done app that solved a problem for me. The only thing I wish they would add are some markup tools so I can write notes on top of the images.

This got me thinking that it would be great if there were a plugin or solution for FileMaker Pro. Well it turns out there is something called FaxPack for FileMaker Pro, but it requires 4-Sight Fax  and the pricing is much higher. On one of the forums, I saw mention of InterFax which has a REST API, so perhaps some enterprising developer can create a link up. The beauty of the Scanner Pro solution is that payment is only as needed, no need to setup an account and the payment processing is handled simply and efficiently through the App Store billing.

Update: 2013-03-08 Found two apps that do this same trick from a Mac:
